Ivy Van Dusen

Lately I have been getting so saught up in the "big" things in life.
I just want to be done with school and have a totally awesome career.
I want to have children and be a super mom!
I want to go on big exotic vacations and serve large groups of people and publish big news stories
It goes on and on.
Am I the only one who thinks like this?
The thing I have been fogetting is that most lives are made up by lots of little things.
I think that at the end of my life, when I look back on everything, it will be those little "dumb" moments that made up my entire life.
So whatever you're doing now in life, whether it be big or small,
whether you make $100,000 a year or $1000,
whether you feel like you are accomplishing great things or not,
know that it is okay!
That is how life should be.
You are awesome and deserve

I made this little design of one of my favorite quotes. Feel free to share or do whatever you'd like with it!
It is by a Mormon prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley, who has since passed on
(his talks are the best and will literally change your life).
Even if you are not a member of the Mormon church, these words apply to you too and I hope you will gain a bit of peace and hope from them :)

I am so happy to be teaming up with such an awesome company today! Luv Michael Granola is one of the neatest companies and I am happy to get to share with you a little more about their story.

Despite Michael Kessarsis love of cooking, he had a difficult time finding a job because he has autism and doesn't have a high school diploma. Providing training and an income for those with autism became the mission for Luv Michael and they have had lots of success in doing so.

Using only the finest organic ingredients, their granola is super yummy and good for you!
For more info and to order some yummy granola, check out their website, Instagram and Facebook pages.

Today was my first day of my senior year of college. I am not planning on going to graduate school any time soon, so this was my last, first day of school ever! CRAZY. I remember thinking that jr. high flew by. Then when I graduated from high school, I thought it went way too fast, but college has been by far the quickest! The past three years have been some of the very best of my life and you know what they say, time flies when you're having fun! I am so happy to be starting my 4th year here at BYU. I just can't say enough how much I love this school. I am expecting my class/workload this semester to be the craziest and busiest it has ever been so while I still have my head on right, I'd like to write down some of my goals.

-Build resume with more experiences. Say yes to good opportunities!
-Learn as much as I can about all things broadcast-related
-Meet new FRIENDS + make more connections.
-Look for ways to help and serve others through my writing, design, website, whatever!
-Find a good internship/job in Salt Lake City for after graduation.
-Really stabilize my spiritual foundation for the rest of my life.
-Stay healthy. No matter how busy, set aside time for working out and eating right.
-Always keep top priorities on top: God and Family.

I am so excited to be talking about a new brand of makeup that I just discovered! I love love love discovering new cosmetic products and I am happy to say that I really loved the Essence products I tried! Here's a little review of each thing! :)

I have literally tried every mascara known to man. Every one. The expensive, high-end ones, the $1 elf ones. ALL OF THEM. The I Love Extreme Mascara was amazing because not only did it say it was waterproof, it actually WAS waterproof. When I go swimming or to the beach I have gotten into the habit of taking off all my eye makeup because I don't trust it not to bleed all down my face when I get wet. I wore this last week when we went to the beach and it didn't smear or run at all. Awesome stuff!

Next is the Lash Brow Gel Mascara. As you know, I have the most insane, disobedient eyebrows on the planet, so I jump on any product that will tame them. This gel does just that! I put a little bit on my brows every morning. I am sure it would be great for lashes too, but I just use it for brows :)

My favorite product out of all the ones I tried was the Liquid Lipstick. It honestly was just that - a liquid lipstick! It didn't get all dried out like normal lipstick, but it also didn't come right off like lip gloss. It is a perfect combination of the two! Somehow thick and shiny at the same time! Not to mention the color is GORGEOUS (this is the shade "colour party").

Lastly, I got to try the Essence Long-lasting lipstick. I love this stuff whenever we go out on a date or whenever I need something that will last. I have been able to eat and drink (and kiss! ;)) without it coming off (this is the shade "I am Yours")

So there you have it!! Be sure to check out all of the rest of the wonderul Essence products!

Hey guys! Hope everyone is having an awesome Thursday! Today I am talking about a new line of skin moisturizing products called Aquation. I have been using these products for a little over a week now and am just doing a little review post about what I thought of them.

Ever since I was a little girl, I have had the DRIEST skin ever. During the winter my hands always get so dry to the point that they literally crack and bleed. My legs also always seem to be dry (ladies, you probably know how this goes if you shave your legs as often as I do). I have to cover practically my entire body in lotion every night or I will feel super dry and itchy. It's nuts! So, needless to say, I am always down to try a new moisturizer.

I have really liked Aquation. I use it every day on my hands, arms, and legs. It is thick enough to do an amazing moisturizing job but isn't at all greasy, if that makes sense. It rubs in very well and does the job! I am super excited to use it once winter rolls around and things get super dry. My dry skin may have met its match.

One of my favorite parts about this line is that it is sold at Wal Mart! I love finding a product I love from Wal Mart because that means a) I will always be able to find it easily and b) it'll be affordable.

Hope you have a great day!!

For the past little while I have been looking hard for a good, enjoyable, worthwhile job which is something that can be SO hard when you are a full-time student. Somehow I got lucky and heard that BYU Radio was hiring and was able to land a job as an assistant producer! I have been getting asked lots of questions about it lately. I have only been working for about 3 weeks now but I am LOVING it! Basically I have just been doing a little bit of everything. Transcribing some of the shows, recording little segments, finding news stories and whatever else they need! I am learning so much and am really enjoying it. I always thought I only wanted to do television reporting but who knows! I've taken a bit of a new interest in radio as well. I know it seems like I am biting off more than I can chew right now with this, my online writing thing, working out and taking a heavy load of tough classes but I feel like it is a good time to be busy. One of these days we want to have babies and Kody will be in PT school so I figure now is a good time to really dive into my "career" and all of the things I want to do.

Does that make sense? Haha, I don't know. Maybe I am crazy. We'll find out here in a little bit when school really starts to kick in.

I am so grateful to get to study and work at such a cool university. The radio shows are all so uplifting and fun to be a part of. BYU Raido is on Sirius XM radio channel 143 or you can listen online here!

Happy Hump Day! :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Tuesday! I recently started a new job (more on that later), Kody started school yesterday and I start school on Monday so things are pretty crazy around here! I LOVE summertime and am so sad to see it leave, but isn't fall such an awesome time? I get way too excited thinking about comfy fall clothes, pumpkin-candles, football games and fall decorations!

Anyways, I have been trying all kinds of things with my hair lately and thought I'd do a little picture post with all of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, 90% of the time my hair is in a messy top-knot bun but sometimes I just have to do something cute with it!

Here are some hair products that I use all the time and that I used for these styles.

A few weeks ago I became a writer for The Odyssey! I love writing and I love news, so I am super excited about this. Although I usually like to keep my political/newsy side seperated from this blog, I feel super passionate about my country and my writintg so I will be sharing links to my articles on here every week!

My very first article is about the upcoming election which I know is a very touchy subject, and it is okay if you don't agree with me :) I got way more awesome feedback than I thought I would and I am amazed by how many people read it!

Thank you so much for supporting me! You can read the article HERE.

How unbelievably adorable is this skirt! It is from Tara Lynn's Boutique and you can find it HERE!
I know it sounds weird, but lately I have had this obsession with royal blue and white. I have this skirt and a few tops that look just like it. I also decorated my kitchen in all white and blue. I don't know what it is but I just love it.

This skirt is super cute and flattering and I am SO in love.
Happy Sunday!

Every summer my in-laws do a big family vacation. It is something we look forward to every year and they are always the highlight of our summer. All this summer, Kody and I have been working a TON. We both took off school for the summer but have stayed super busy with our jobs and had been looking forward to this vacation the whole time. They are usually either lake or beach trips and this year we stayed at Lake Tulloch in northern California. I had never heard of this lake before, but it was the perfect place to stay. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN.

How hot is this husband of mine!? ^

I am oh-so grateful to have such wonderful in-laws. We have the cutest little nieces and nephews and we all have so much fun together. Can't wait for next year!! :)
