Ivy Van Dusen

Last week Kody had his spring break. It just so happen to line up at the exact same time as my high-schooler-brother's spring break so we all met up in the town that Kody's parents live in and hung out in sunny California for the week :) It was one of THE most fun weeks I have had in a long time! I love having all of my favorite people together in the same place.

THINGS WE DID THERE:
-visited the Great Balloon Park in Irvine. Totally reccomend it!
-looked at the new Anaheim Ducks training facility that Kody was excited about
-drove up and down PCH while Jack took his nap
-Went shopping, ate lunch and walked all around Hunntington Beach + the pier. I have always enjoyed it there since I was young!
-Went to a bunch of different beaches and just  r e l a x e d. It was so nice having two brothers + both sets of grandparents to help watch Jack.
-Went to DISNEYLAND!!!! a.k.a one of my favorite places on planet earth. It was Jack's first time and it was sooooo magical to watch him enjoy it! I hope we are able to keep going back over and over with him and any future babies :)
-Watched Jack play with Kody's parents cat, Reba. Not so sure she loved him but he LOVED her and it was so cute to hear him wake up and beg to see the "kitty cat".
-Walked around the San Clemente Outlets
-Ate at lots of yummy resturants (I mean, that's what vacations are for, right? Que the Jim Gaffigan bit about food on vacation.)

I am still in awe whenever we drive around the area, that Kody actually got to grow up there. When I was little I remember learning that people actually lived by Disneyland and the beach (I always wondered where they went on vacation?) and I was so jealous! And still kind of am. It is just such a beautiful place!!
Taxes, politics and traffic are seriously out. of. control. But still. So beautiful! I hope we are able to continue to visit regularly forever :)

Here's a little photo overload!
Seriously though, not even 1/8 of the pictures I took. I am a picture-taking addict these days thanks to my new, amazing phone.

Riding with nannie on the carousel! Jack was a little bit afraid at first but quickly started to love it! Every time he came around to the spot we were all standing at, he'd get excited and start shaking and waving to us.

Then we went to ride on the big orange balloon and his little shoe fell off right before we took off! It was so funny and cute just sitting there, I had to take a picture.

Loved the view from the top! Such a cute little place!

Handsome Jack with his pop-pop waiting to eat some yummy mexican food!

It just so happen to be my dads 50th birthday while we were there and it was such a great day! I LOVE my dad so much.

My in-laws have the prettiest backyard/pool/hot tub. It was so nice to set the hot tub at a good temperature and let Jack play in it.

So it turns out that Jack actually thinks sand is yummy! Like...what!!!?? He kept trying to sneak it in his mouth and it was everywhere! Silly baby!

Jack and uncle bailey watching the waves.

Waiting in line for Small World! Jack sat with his mouth wide open during the whole ride, in awe of all of the songs and dolls. He LOVED it.

My mom is the cutest ever!!!!

How handsome are my guys???? (also, Kody is a definite #dilfofdisneyland)

Juice break while everyone else went on the scary rides!

One day we rented bikes in San Clemente and rode them on a long path by the beach. So fun!

We had so much fun!!
See you next time, California!

As you can probably tell from the title of this post- today I am talking about my favorite, go-to products for dry skin. In the wintertime I seriously the THE driest skin, lips, and hair! It's nuts! I grew up in Arizona and now live in Utah so you think my body would be used to the extremely dry weather of the southwest but it isn't!

Here is a little list of my favorites. Throughout the past few months of winter I have been using most of these things every single day to keep my skin from itching/cracking. I included products at all different price points so there should be something for everyone!

Tatcha Camellia Gold Spun Lip Balm

First off is this beautiful little lip balm. I know it is a little bit pricey (I mean, it has actual gold pieces in it) but if you're looking for something that will last a loooong time and make your lips super smooth, this is what I'd recommend. I like to keep this in my diaper bag and use it on-the-go over lipstick or just alone!

Neutrogena Hydro-Boost Gel Eye Cream

I just recently started using this stuff and LOVE it for the under-eye area. I think we neglect this area so much but it gets dry too! I like to put it on in the morning before using any makeup.

Pixi Rose Creamide Cream

You know I have been a huge fan of Pixi lately and here is just another example of how good their stuff is. This creamide cream is amazing for dry face skin. I like to save it for days when my skin is extremely dry because it's so thick.

Neutrogena Hand Cream

If I was doing this blog post in order of my favorites, this would be #1. I LOVE THIS STUFF. I have been using it for years now and cannot get enough. I like to use it on my hands, lips, and elbows. So good and so cheap.

Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate + Argan Oil

When I first got this I used it on the ends of my hair and it worked great. Now I have begun using it everywhere! Face, arms, legs, all of it. It smells AMAZING.

Farmacy Sleep Tight Night Cream

I've talked about this stuff a million times so I'm just gonna leave it at that :)

Neutrogena Hydroboost Hydrating Cleansing Gel

This is my second bottle and it is great when you want a clean face but also don't want to dry it out!

Skinfix 12 Hour Miracle Ointment

Think of this as a Neutrogena Hand Cream 2.0. It is similar but a lot thicker and more pricey. If you are having seriously dry, damaged skin, THIS is the stuff you should turn to first. I save it for those reallllly dry winter months and use it on my hands, lips and feet. It is amazing.

That's all for now! Let me know if you have any other dry skin products you'd recommend!!

For the past couple of years (yes, YEARS) I have been in the market for a personal microdermabrasion tool. I have watched so many YouTube videos and different online tutorials and after such a long time, I finally got my hands on one!

This is the Microdermabrasion Kit from Microglo. It comes in this cute, white box which includes a how-to pamphlet, the device itself, five interchangeable heads, a USB charger and a baggie with a bunch of filters.

I started using the device about a month ago and since that time have noticed a huge difference in the way my face feels overall. Microdermabrasion is a process that removes the outer layer of skin (dead skin cells, makeup buildup, oil, etc) and reveals a much healthier, fresher layer of skin! It is a verrrrry pricey spa treatment that I can now do at home when I want to pretend I'm at the spa and enjoy some "me" time!

It comes with 5 different device heads that differ in roughness. I find that the #2 suits my skin best! Before doing any kind of microdermabrasion, I make sure allllll of my makeup is off my face. I also remove any moisturizer and also prefer to use a light exfoliating cleanser to make sure my skin is 100% clean. I then pat dry with a towel and start the process. The Migroglo has four different suctioning strength settings that can be easily changed by pressing the main button. I use the second setting for most of my face and occasionally use the third setting for more clogged areas like around my nose.

At first I used the product 2x/in one week and have since switched to using it once about every 10 days or so. My serums, moisturizers and makeup apply MUCH smoother and I love it so much!! I even did a YouTube video talking about it in more detail.

If you're interested in grabbing a Microglo, use code IVYLAUREN on their website for 20% off and let me know if you have any questions at all!
