WEDDING

By Ivy - 2/13/2015

Well, here I am! A married woman with a new husband and a new name and all that good stuff J The past two weeks have been the very best of my life (so far, that is). So prepare yourself for a huge overload of pictures and I will tell you all about it :)
----
On Friday the 16th (the day before the wedding), everyone was running around like crazy, trying to get all of the food and outfits and decorations all together and set up. A few months ago we were looking at wedding venues and planners, but we felt like they were way too expensive, especially considering how simple I wanted things to be, so we decided to do it all ourselves. I am really glad we did, but that Friday was totally NUTS. Thank goodness for all of the help we had. My grandpa, uncles and dad got their giant ladders and put up all of the lights, my aunts and grandma helped us set up the decorations and the food, and lots of other people did all kinds of things that needed to be done.
That night I went to bed at about midnight. But I just sat there, staring, completely unable to sleep. My mind was running 100 MPH with thoughts about things I needed to remember to do, worries of things getting messed up, and just straight being the most excited I have been in my whole life. I think I fell asleep for about an hour, but then I woke up and looked at my phone at 3:11am and from then I just sat there again until I got up and started getting ready at 5 am. I got only one hour of sleep, but I wasn't tired at all.
My cousin, Haley drove all the way over to my house early that morning, and went to my hair appointment with me. I had to meet Kody at the temple for pictures at 7:45, but my hair took SO long to do. I looked at my phone and it said 7:30 and I freaked out a little. I hadn't even started my makeup or getting dressed or ANYTHING. So, needless to say, I ran behind that morning. I went so so fast and did all of my makeup in about 5 minutes- record time. Then I yelled at every single red light on the way to the temple. It was just like every nightmare I had in the weeks leading up to that day. I was a huge mess! But as soon as I got to the temple and saw my sweet husband-to-be standing outside the doors, everything was okay and I was just so happy.

Is he not the cutest, hottest husband there ever was??
Except at this point he wasn't technically my husband yet...

All of my entire life, ever since I could remember, I had been dreaming of the day when I could get married in the temple. As a little girl I would drive by that beautiful building with my face pressed up against the window, in awe of its beauty. I remember walking on its grounds, seeing the beautiful brides walking around. I remember going there as a teenager, when life got tough and I would sit in the grass and just stare at it. Now, I can honestly say that it was everything I hoped it would be. And it was 100% worth everything it took to get there. I am so grateful for a family who supported me in my goals, and were there when I was able to finally go through. I am also so happy to have found a worthy husband to take me there. It was the happiest, best thing I have ever done, and just thinking about that sealing ceremony makes me smile every time.

Coming out of the temple was another great time. I didn't think so many people would be there! All of our friends and cousins, our families, nieces and nephews were all there, smiling and cheering as soon as we walked out of those gorgeous doors.

We had the greatest photographer ever. I really love taking pictures, and I have looked at probably every wedding picture there ever was on Pinterest, so I get really picky about pictures. That was probably one of the top things I really, really wanted done right. I have heard a lot of wedding photographer horror stories, so I was really hoping it would all work out. Michelle was absolutely awesome. She knew exactly how to take control (which says a lot considering how many people and kids she had to get to cooperate that day), she was always so happy, and they turned out so good. She made things so calm and fun for everyone.
Thank goodness I had these two to help me out with everything. My sweet parents were probably more stressed out than I was about this whole thing, and that is saying a lot! Plus, for the past 19 years, they have encouraged me to set my sights high, and work hard to be able to get married in the temple one day. They did such a good job as parents, and I could not have done it without their help! Our parents helped SO much and probably deserve a honeymoon of their own.

I can't even tell you how much I love these brothers of mine (aren't they so studly in their classy-guy outfits)? I also can't tell you how hard it was to get them to kiss me! But they pushed through the pain and somehow were able to do it long enough to get a cute picture. Thanks guys! :)

Not only did I gain a new husband and a new last name, but I also got 5 (almost 6) adorable nieces and nephews! Yayyyyy! Are they not the cutest little things you've ever seen???

I love our families :)

I also loved our fun wedding party!! They kept saying things that made me laugh so, there weren't very many pictures that I actually looked normal in!

(I swear, me and Kody are normal heights. we just have a lot of tall friends)

And then we took more pictures!

The rest of the day went by so smoothly. We had a luncheon with everyone, and it was so nice to be able to try and talk to everyone, especially the people that we don't get to see all that often!
Then it was off to get re-ready and get it all together for the reception!
Everything just flew right on by. It was crazy, because now that night just seems like a big blur.
Maybe it was because of my one-hour sleep the night before, or just because it was the happiest time of my life so far, but either way I am happy that Michelle was able to capture a lot of it!

My sweet aunts put together the cutest little candy bar! It was pink and soooo adorable.

Cutting the cake was also a lot of fun. The tiny piece that we shoved into each others mouths tasted SO yummy! I got it all over Kody's face, but thank goodness he was a little bit nicer :)

I was holding it together throughout the day, until I danced with my dad, then the tears started coming.
Good thing I planned ahead with my waterproof makeup :)

Through our whole first dance, Kody just kept whispering funny things in my ear, making me laugh and again, making a difficult time for the photographer to get a normal picture :) LOVE HIM.

Then I hoped real hard that my bouquet wouldn't hit the ceiling, which it didn't :)

Both of us have always talked about how awkward and weird the whole garter thing is. Like, in front of everyone we know...why is that even a thing?? So, we just put one on a football and Kody tossed it. That way whoever got it wouldn't just get a random garter, but a football too :)

His nieces just LOVE him.

Then it was time to leave! What? It was all already over? So weird. But after an entire day in heels, my feet were killing me and we were ready to leave.

As soon as we left, we both realized that we hadn't eaten anything all day!
So, we did the total Kody-and-Ivy thing and made a stop to In-N-Out in our entire wedding getup.
And then we went straight to bed and nothing else happened ;)

Happiest day ever.
Thank you SO much to everyone who came and helped.
And kudos to anyone who actually made it this far in the post
xo
